Distinguished Individual Award

World Urban Parks encourages and recognises significant contributions made by individuals to the urban parks, open space and recreation sector with this prestigious international award. The Distinguished Individual Award recognises any organisation or individual associated with the parks, open space and recreation industry. 

Submissions

  • Nominations must be accompanied by the following information provided by the nominator in electronic form (Word)
  • Up to 1000 words outlining the significant or sustained contribution by the nominee to furthering urban liveability and sustainability through parks, open space, recreation and related endeavours. Up to three photographs may support the text
  • Up to 500 words outlining the significant or sustained contribution by the nominee to advancing the parks, open space and recreation industry through advocacy, development or leadership in related professional or peak organisations. Up to two photographs may support the text
  • A copy of the nominee's resume (preferred 1-2 page summary) including contact details
  • A high-resolution photograph (JPEG) of the nominee
  • The name, role, qualifications and contact details of the person making the nomination

Nominations & Eligibility

Nominations for 2019 may be received from any organisation or individual, other than the nominee, that is associated with the parks, open space and recreation industry. The nomination must have the agreement of the nominee. The nominee may be any person who is active in parks, open space and recreation or related fields. 

Judging

Eligible submissions will be judged by a panel of three to four experienced persons appointed by the World Urban Parks Board. Judging is against the Award criteria. Judges should take into account the level of national and international impact of the contributions and the relative difficulty in achieving the contributions. 

All decisions of the judging panel will be final with no correspondence entered into.
