Centennial Park - A Park like no other
Centennial Park is not only one of Australia's best known and loved parks, but one of its most historic. It is a grand-scale urban inner-city park situated in Sydney’s densely populated eastern suburbs. The Park is a beautiful natural landscape surrounded by a sandstone ridge. It was created in the 19th Century Victorian era and has since been enhanced through many improvements over the years. Now over 130 years old, Centennial Park is visited by millions annually and features formal and decorative gardens, ponds, grand avenues, statues and monuments, historic buildings, a children’s’ “wild play” garden, education precinct, equestrian grounds and sporting facilities. In 2018, Centennial Park received its GOLD star of approval by the World Urban Parks Congress and is now the only park in the southern hemisphere to hold this award – and here is why.
